Katie_loco__fcav_0031_SmallI have worked in child welfare for fifteen years after completing a Bachelor of·Science and Bachelor of Social Work. I have also been a foster carer with Berry Street Victoria for over 10 years, offering emergency and respite care, including respite care to a sibling group of two boys for the past 10 years. Prior to my role as Executive Officer at FCAV, which I have been employed in for the past two years, I worked for Child Protection and not-for-profit organisations - MacKillop·(home-based·& residential care), and Whitelion (supporting young people or·those at risk of involvement with the Youth Justice System and young people in leaving care.

Our Purpose

 Advocate for foster carers, their families and the children in their care to ensure all
voices are heard;
 Work in partnership with agencies and the sector to provide an improved foster care
system;
 Provide support and learning for carers directly, through various forums, or in
partnership with agencies;
 Build FCAV intelligence in order to be identified as a recognised and viable authority
in the sector;
 Promote the awareness of foster caring to assist in public understanding of the role
and agency recruitment of carers;

Our Vision

To provide information, support and advocacy to carers that ensures they can offer
children and young people in their care a healing environment which assists the child or
young person to reach their full potential.
