Board of Directors & EO
Desley Harris
I have been a registered carer with Berry Street since 1992 and have cared for over 300 children over a large age range. I was approved as a Therapeutic Foster Carer in May 2008, and have extensive experience in providing short and long term, emergency and respite care. My husband and I have four children of our own and are currently providing care to two therapeutic foster care children.
I am a member of the Berry Street Assessment and Review Meeting Panel, and mentor many new foster families starting in the program. Over the years, my husband and I have also been actively involved in the Hume Foster Families Association, and have participated in several small media campaigns to promote foster care recruitment and retention in the region. In 2000, my husband and I were awarded the Tattersall's Award for Enterprises and Achievement in recognition of our involvement in Berry Street's Foster Care program over many years. I hope this background information showcases my passion and deep regard for children.
