History of FCAV

The Foster Care Association of Victoria was established by a small group of foster carers with the idea of offering support to strengthen foster care families.

Through their passion and with the support of many in the sector, The Foster Care Association of Victoria was incorporated in May 1992. Enhanced Government funding was secured for the organisation in 2004 with some additional philanthropic support.

July 2011 saw further funds from Government allow the Carer Information and Support Service to be funded with an extra focus going into carers in rural and regional Victoria. This resulted in FCAV prioritising regional information sharing as a core part of our work and also saw an office expansion and move from Northcote to Collingwood in July 2012.  In 2015 we gained Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, allowing gifts and donations to the Association to be tax deductible. This also allows the Foster Care Association of Victoria to be the registered charity for major fundraising events by third parties.
