Foster Care Association of Victoria announces new CEO

The Foster Care Association of Victoria is delighted to announce the appointment of new Chief Executive Officer, Samantha Hauge, effective from July 15, 2019.

Ms Hauge’s appointment follows Katie Hooper’s decision to step down after 10 years in the role.

Ms Hauge brings a wealth of leadership and strategic insight to FCAV with a career spanning the DHHS and the Child Protection sector, the Children’s Court of Victoria, Kids Safe and five years as CEO at the Coroner’s Court of Victoria.

Ms Hauge has been a foster carer for the past 13 years and has an awareness of the experiences of foster carers from both perspectives. Ms Hauge has just been recognised as one of 21 women leaders in law in the 21stcentury by the Law Institute of Victoria

“I’m really honoured and excited to be commencing my role at FCAV and to contribute to the great work that this organisation is doing” said Ms Hauge.

FCAV Board President Toni Hetherington said Ms Hauge was appointed after a competitive search for a new CEO across Victoria and would bring invaluable experience to the association.

“FCAV is excited to welcome Samantha as our new CEO, knowing that her proven record as a Chief Executive Officer and her prior experience within the Out of Home Care sector makes her the ideal person to lead our organisation into the future,” Ms Hetherington said.

Ms Hetherington said the FCAV Board would like to congratulate and recognise Katie Hooper for her commitment, hard work and tenacious advocacy in the past 10 years to lift the FCAV to its current position and for improving the lives of foster carers and the children and young people in their care.

“We thank Katie immensely for all she has done and wish her all the best in her future endeavours,” Ms Hetherington said.

“Although we will miss such a valuable member of the organisation and her guiding hand, we are excited for the things ahead for FCAV and Victoria’s foster carers.”
