Volunteer Board Treasurer Position available (June 2026).

The FCAV are seeking a skilled and passionate person to fill the role of Treasurer on our Board.

The FCAV Board of Directors have a passion and commitment to improving the outcomes for foster carers and the children and young people in their care, making a difference at an organisational and state level.

The overall role of the Board of Directors is to ensure the organisation operates in accordance with any legal requirements, the organisation’s stated objectives and its Association Rules (constitution).
It is also responsible for setting, monitoring and reviewing key strategic policies and directions.

Anyone is invited to express their interest to join the FCAV’s Board of Directors, that consists of up to 9 elected positions (foster carers & FCAV full members) and up to 5 co-opted positions (appointed to provide specialist expertise).

The Treasurer’s duties include;

1.      Ensure a Financial Audit is conducted annually

2.      Present Financial summary at the monthly FCAV Board Meetings

3.      Present financial reports to the Association members at the Annual General Meeting.

4.      Ensure compliance with the FCAV’s Financial Management Policy

5.      Assist in developing an annual budget for Board approval

6.      Regularly monitor and report on the budget actual expenditure against projected expenditure

7.      Ensure that the financial records of the Association are kept in accordance with the Associations Act or relevant laws.; and

8.      Coordinate the preparation of the financial statements of the Association and their certification by the Board prior to their submission to the annual general meeting of the Association.

9.      The Treasurer must ensure that at least one other Board director has access to the accounts and financial records of the Association.

We also encourage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people or those from diverse backgrounds or from regional Victoria to apply.

The Board meets monthly, and for regional Directors, travel and overnight accommodation costs are reimbursed, where necessary.
