Congratulations to this year's winners of the Commitment to Supporting Carers Awards announced at the FCAV AGM and Carer Celebration on Friday 19th September, 2025 during Foster Care Week. The awards recognise agency workers who go above and beyond in their support of foster carers, making a vital difference to the stability and wellbeing of carers and the children and young people in their care. Both winners received multiple nominations from carers, a testament to their consistency in supporting families and foster care placements.

Congratulations to Stacey Brown, MacKillop Family Services and Miriam Wolthuizen, Anglicare Victoria. Your dedication to supporting carers is golden in a complex system, supporting carers in their role, providing care to children and young people.

Stacey Brown “Without Stacey’s guidance we probably wouldn’t have been able to keep our 3 siblings together. She offers help, no judgement and she has a beautiful connection with all our kids, making them feel valued. I’ve never once felt alone during our foster care journey. When she visits she's out on the trampoline with boys but also saving space for our biological children and they talk all things Taylor Swift. Stacey always goes over and beyond her role as a coordinator. She always answers my calls and always has an ear to listen to my concerns and worries. Stacey is a huge asset to the MacKillop Family.”
Miriam Wolthuizen “Nothing is too much for Miriam… she honours our views and respects that we are doing the hard yards and ALWAYS has the kids’ best interest at the forefront. She advocates to child protection for funding, organises respite, spends time with the children, regularly visits, actions anything we need, responds immediately when contacted - the list goes on. Miriam is the glue that holds us all together. She will not give up until what we need is achieved. She cares for our own mental health and makes sure that we are supported. She ensures our foster child is getting the right supports in place and took on our NDIS challenge when we gave up hope. Miriam checks in even when things are going well and persists in finding an answer. We would be lost without her.”

Congratulations again to the other Commitment to Supporting Carers Award finalists for 2025. This shortlist reflects the extraordinary dedication of staff across the sector:

A huge thank you to all the carers who shared their stories and nominated a worker who made a difference. Your experiences remind us of the powerful impact that great support can have for carer households.
