Congratulations to this year's winners of a Commitment to Supporting Carers Award who were announced at the FCAV AGM and Carer Celebration on Friday 13th September, 2024 during Foster Care Week. Both winners received multiple nominations from carers, a testament to their consistency in supporting families and foster care placements.

Congratulations to Teagan Dunn from Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) and Teah Edelmaier from Anchor Community Care Ltd. Your dedication to supporting carers is golden in a complex system, supporting carers in their role, providing care to children and young people.

Teagan Dunn of Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) “I have had many, many workers over my 8 years as a carer, and I have been so impressed with Teagan. He always put the best interest of the children first and is a strong advocate for his carers and their children. Teagan has gone above and beyond always. He makes himself available, always checking in, always following up. We have a happy and settled placement because of him.” Another carer shared that “Teagan’s help has been game changing. He is 100% committed to the carers and children. If more carers were treated the way Teagan treats us there would be a lot more carers in the system.”
Teah Edelmaier from Anchor Community Care Ltd. “Teah is always upfront and communicates well. She cares what happens and goes above and beyond to help in all instances whether it be for the child or myself. I have been caring since 2008 and she is the best-case manager I have had in all these years. “She is a beautiful person who has lots of understanding and puts in 100% all the time.”  Another carer shared exactly how Teah has gone above and beyond…  “As I'm a single carer and working full time”, Teah has gone and picked up a sick child for me and brought them to a carer to be minded as I was at work when the daycare called. She is amazing and deserves to be rewarded for the great job she does.”

Congratulations to all the nominees in the 2024 Commitment to Supporting Carer Awards including the final shortlist:

A huge thank you to all the carers who shared their stories and nominated a worker who made a difference. Your experiences remind us of the powerful impact that great support can have in our community.
